Anna Soubry MP has welcomed today’s announcement by Nottinghamshire County Council of the replacement of the Number 17 bus service, which runs between Stapleford and Beeston, by extending the County Council’s Toton Connect service.

The new service, which will run from the 2nd January 2013, will be called the Toton Connect Plus service 110 and will provide an hourly service between Attenborough and Stapleford throughout the day on weekdays. This service will be operated by Nottinghamshire County Council’s brand new 20 seater Bluebird vehicles which are low floor and fully wheelchair accessible.

Talking about this success, Anna said:

“This is excellent news for people throughout Toton and residents in Attenborough and at the Derby Road end of Stapleford. Nottinghamshire County Council have stepped up to the mark in recognising there is a real local need for a good, regular and reliable bus service. Using vehicles that would otherwise sit in a garage is a sensible way of making the most of public services.

I would urge everyone who used the Connect and the No. 17 to use this new service. I would like to add my thanks to Nottinghamshire County Council and local Councillors Richard Jackson and John Doddy for taking up my idea and for representing the needs and views of all those constituents who contacted me.”
