Nottinghamshire’s new Police and Crime Commissioner, Paddy Tipping, would like to know what people think about his priorities for the Police and Crime Plan and the 2013-2014 police budget.

Developing the Police and Crime Plan and setting the budget for Nottinghamshire Police are two of the Commissioner’s key responsibilities.

That is why he is seeking public opinion. He wants the public to have a say on the areas that they feel should have priority in the plan, which will then help shape the way policing services are delivered in the future.

The seven areas that Mr Tipping believes should be the key priorities for policing are:
·        Protect, support and respond to victims, witnesses and vulnerable people
·        Improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the criminal justice process
·        Focus on those local areas that are most affected by crime and anti-social behaviour
·        Reduce the impact of substance misuse and alcohol on levels of crime and anti-social behaviour
·        Reduce the threat from organised crime
·        Prevention, early intervention and reduction in re-offending
·        Spending your money wisely

Encouraging people to get involved in shaping the way services are provided, he suggested that they might also like to get on-line and complete the e.survey which should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.

The Commissioner added: “Public opinion is a really important part of setting the priorities for my plan, particularly as we decide how to use the resources available to us. I want to make sure that we invest resources in areas that are of greatest importance to people, and the feedback from this survey will help us do that”.

Please consider completing the short electronic survey which can be accessed via the ‘Have Your Say’ section on the homepage of Commissioner’s website www.nottinghamshire.pcc.police.uk All responses must be received by 5pm on 31 January 2013.
