Anna Soubry MP Urges Further Responses to Cossall Open Cast Mining Application
Anna Soubry, Member of Parliament for Broxtowe, has today urged people opposed to UK Coal’s application to begin Opencast mining at Shortwood Farm, between Trowell and Cossall, to make their views known by commenting on the planning application.
The consultation process, which originally closed on in May 2012, has reopened following Nottinghamshire County Council’s request for more information from UK Coal. The new deadline for responses to the application is 11th February.
Speaking about the planning application, Anna said:
“There is no doubt that opencast mining at Shortwood will have a considerable negative effect on the quality of life of my Constituents who live nearby, not only in terms of noise and dust pollution but also on the impact it will have on the local roads and infrastructure.”
“Whilst all original responses to the planning application made last year still stand, it is important that people who are opposed to this threat to precious Green Belt land make their opinions known again to Nottinghamshire County Council.”
