On Monday 4th March at 11am local Children who attend the Wadsworth Fields Primary School will be helping to plant 3 new Trees after successufully obtaining a grant to cover the cost. They will be joined by the Mayor of Broxtowe as this has been a joint project between Richard MacRae and Chris Riley of the Broxtowe Borough Council Parks Department.

The 3 Trees will be planted near the picnic bench that was installed last year to create a shaded area for all to enjoy.

Betula albo-sinensis, Sorbus magnifica and a Sorbus aucuparia “Golden Wonder”  will be planted, as well as creating a shaded area it will also supply a food source for wildlife.

This is the third improvement brought to the local park by Stapleford Community Group by working alongside Broxtowe Borough Council. Last year saw a new picnic bench and a recycled play frame installed. It is also hoped that after meeting with GROUNDWORK UK on Thursday 31st January that more improvements will take place. The biggest request is the path around the inside of the park, a wildlife area, improved play items and more seating.

Trees rather than fighting footballers, that sounds good! Well done!
A lick of paint on the recycled play frame would have made the gift it a bit more festive.
