The Broxtowe Borough Aligned Core Strategy – Proposed changes to include an area in the vicinity of the proposed HS2 station at Toton as a strategic location for growth

Steve Dance, Head of Planning and Building Control, Broxtowe Borough Council writes: On 28th January 2013 the Secretary of State for Transport announced that Toton Sidings is the preferred location for a High Speed 2 (HS2) rail station to serve the East Midlands. This was discussed at the Council’s Cabinet meeting on 29th January.

As a result of this announcement the Borough Council considers that this is a matter of strategic significance likely to affect the development potential for land in the vicinity of the HS2 station at Toton. Before submitting the Core Strategy the Council is therefore undertaking a further consultation specifically in respect of that area being included within the Core Strategy as a strategic location for growth.

Details of the consultation are listed below. Responses should be made on the appropriate forms or online. The consultation period runs from Monday 18th February 2013 to 5.00pm Wednesday 3rd April 2013. Please note that all representations must be received within this time.

Any comments you have already made in response to the publication of the Core Strategy between 11th June and 23rd July 2012 will be taken into account and there is no need for you to repeat them. We only seek comments on the proposed changes for Toton and all comments received will be available for public inspection. Please note that this is not a consultation about HS2 itself, which is subject to national consultation.

The Core Strategy and supporting documentation, including an amended Sustainability Appraisal in so far as it relates to this location, is also available on the Council’s website, the Council’s offices at Beeston and Eastwood and at all libraries in the Borough.
