How is your local park or open space performing? Broxtowe residents are being encouraged to get online and have their say on to help inform a new Broxtowe Parks Standard.

The questionnaire is available online on the Broxtowe Borough Council website and is quick and easy to fill in, using a series of drop down boxes and point and click answers.

Cabinet member for Environment at Broxtowe Borough Council, Councillor Richard Robinson, said: “The Council is proud of its local parks and open spaces and is always looking for new ways to make improvements.

“The views of local residents are extremely important to ensure that continue to provide quality parks and open spaces for the local community to enjoy.”

The Parks & Environment team are keen to hear from as many residents and users of the parks as possible and will be promoting the questionnaires across the borough including local schools, Community Action Teams and at various Broxtowe parks and open spaces.

The questionnaire will run on the Council’s website from Monday 8th July until the Autumn.

For more information, contact Broxtowe Borough Council on 0115 917 3643, email env@broxtowe.gov.uk or visit www.broxtowe.gov.uk to have your say.

  1. This is a brilliant scheme and I personally have been campaining for improvments to Ilkeston Road Recreation Ground for a while now.

From talking with many people who use the park some of the ideas are to fence the park in on the north side, this will keep the motorbikes off and help stop antisocial behaviour.

Other ideas gathered are for a path around the inside of the park which was requested by many people as well as outdoor exercise items, improvments to the play are and a possible wildlife area.

I have been given a stack of paper copies already and have been getting people on the park to fill them in to great success, one idea is for new signs.

Hopefully having an online version will allow more people to pass there ideas on the the council and we get the improvments carried out sooner rather than later.
