Today Stapleford Fire Station presented George Spencer Academy in Stapleford with an award for their outstanding support to the Retained Duty System.

District Manager Martin Molloy, Watch Manager Ray Burton, Firefighter Steve Fullwood presented the award to Principle Fraiser Mitchell, Chair of Governors Jill Wilkinson and FrOGS (Friends of George Spencer) Jane Andrews from George Spencer Academy who employ two retained firefighters.

The academy were nominated for an award for their continued support, which ensures that Stapleford’s fire engine remains ‘on the run’ and is able to attend emergency calls during working hours. Alongside supporting flexible working hours, George Spencer Academy supports Stapleford Fire Station’s community events and the work of The Fire Fighters Charity.

Retained staff who work at the academy have commented that they find it comforting to know that their employer recognised the work that RDS staff do.
