Kindness In The Stapleford Community
When Bessell Lane flooded earlier this evening several small Businesses came under threat.
One business owner was fighting an endless battle trying to keep the water out.
A call was made to the after hours emergency team at Broxtowe Borough Council to request Sandbags to help stop the water getting into the small businesses.
Volunteers from Stapleford gathered on Bessell Lane and waited for the team from Broxtowe Borough Council to turn up with the Sandbags and then set about stacking them up along the Doors to keep the Water out.
Further down the road local business UPS was having to ferry out the staff in Vans as the Cars couldn’t get through the floods.
As well as supplying the Sandbags Broxtowe Borough Council also had a Vehicle which was pumping out the water which was then taken away. The team also checked for blocked drains.
It’s thanks to the hard work of the local volunteers and Broxtowe Borough Council that the Businesses have all been made safe from being flooded.
Thanks to everyone that turned up this evening to help and again showing what a great community we have in Stapleford at a time of need.
