Liberty Leisure Limited have had to make the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Chinese New Year celebration event that was planned to take
place in Beeston Square on 28
th January.

“It is with a heavy heart that we have been forced to cancel this event and we sincerely apologise for any disappointment it will cause” said Interim
Managing Director, Chris Laxton-Kane.

I would like to reassure the local
community that we are actively planning on 2017 programme of events which will be available soon, including the ever-popular Hemlock Happening on 10th June and other events across the summer.”

There will be a variety of Chinese New Year Celebrations taking place in and around Nottingham including the Temple Fair in the Market Square at
Nottingham on Saturday 21st January 11am-5pm and a family event at the Civic Centre in Arnold on Saturday 28th January 1-4.30pm plus a variety of celebrations at Lakeside Arts Centre/ University Of Nottingham. Please visit

    No explanation as to why?
    It’s all well and good saying things are happening in Nottingham or at hemlock stone but that’s not Beeston is it? Beeston is dire at the minute, events like Chinese new year celebrations bring us together as a community and are important!

    Liberty leisure are really not representing themselves very well at the minute what with the poor attempt at Christmas etc. As far as residents can see our traditions that bring high spirits (not to mention people into our town) are being shoved aside and ruined.

    Such a shame beeston bid aren’t around anymore, maybe you could take a leaf out of their book?
