Could Stapleford Get a 4G Football Pitch?

Well that was what was discussed at a meeting held earlier this evening at The Haven Centre

Thank you to www.sportsandsafetysurfaces.co.uk for kindly allowing us to use the image, this is a great company who supply Sports and Safety Surfacing.

Stapleford Councillors John McGrath and Richard MacRae were joined by Councillor Shane Easom who is Chair of the Community and Leisure Committee at Broxtowe Borough Council who met with Officers from Broxtowe Borough Council and Liberty Leisure along with local Football Teams and the Stapleford Cricket Club.

They were all joined by a representative of the Football Association to discuss the need and possibility of having a 4G Football Pitch right here in Stapleford.

All the local Recreation Grounds were considered for the possibility and now the Council Officers are going to find out if it would be possible to use a local recreational ground by talking firstly to the Planning Department, if they come back with a no then the wider area would then need to be considered.

The representative from the Football Association made it very clear there is a need for a 4G Football Pitch in the South of the Borough, so if not Stapleford it could be not to far away.

Stapleford Councillors John McGrath and Richard MacRae are now going to organise a second meeting and encourage all the local Football Teams in the area to attend, to have a shot at making this work the local teams need to all talk and work together.

Once the Football Teams have had a chat and once the Council Officers have gathered the required information together then a follow up meeting will take place.

Our local Football Teams do an amazing job and they are an inspiration to the local youngsters who play for them.

The Teams are constantly growing and this is down to the hard work the Coaches and Managers put into what they truly believe in and of course the continued support from the players and parents and carers too.

Thanks to The Haven Centre for allowing the meeting to take place and thank you to Russ for sorting out the visuals for the presentation.

We would like to thank Maggie and MacRae for getting the Teams together and organising the meeting.

Of course as things progress we let you know.
