Notts chippy is selling deep-fried battered Cadbury’s Creme Eggs for Easter
A Notts chippy has come up with a cracking Easter idea – battered Creme Eggs. The deep-fried confectionery has just gone on sale at Starfish Traditional Fish and Chips in Stapleford. And customers can’t get enough of the gooey goodies.
They’re shelling out a pound a time to sample the naughty but nice chocolate treat.
“They’re crunchy on the outside and gooey inside. I think they’re nice. We have done battered Mars Bars for over two years. I saw Creme Eggs at the cash and carry and thought I’d give it a go. It’s a bit of a novelty,” said Emma, who freshly cooks the eggs to order.
Stapleford councillor Richard MacRae and his wife Donna were amongst the first to try them. He said: “I’ve never had anything like that before but I think it works. It was a nice treat.

“If it brings people into the chip shop then fair play to them.”
Mrs MacRae said she wouldn’t be adverse to seconds – just not on the same day. “You wouldn’t want more than one at a time but it was beautiful.”
The battered eggs will be on sale throughout the Easter period. “I think I’ll have to go back and get some more. A lot of people have said they are going to try them,” added Emma.
The eggs aren’t the only confectionery to be given an Easter twist. Nottingham sweet shop The Treat Kitchen, in Wheeler Gate, is selling Hot Cross Bun flavoured fudge – complete with a cross.
