Cllr Richard MacRae Richard MacRae

Richard lives with his partner, Donna, and their daughter.   Following a by-election Richard was elected to the Town Council in January 2014 and re-elected at the local elections in 2015.

Richard has lived in Stapleford all his life and attended Frederick Harrison Infants, Stevenson Junior School, Bramcote Park Comprehensive and colleges in the Nottingham area.  A qualified Train The Trainer, in 2014; Richard was recognised as a Community Learning Champion for his involvement with Nottingham A.C.L.S.   In September 2014 Richard was awarded the Points Of Light award by the Prime Minister for his work in the community.

Immersed in the Community Richard is: Chairman of Stapleford Community Group, a member of Broxtowe Borough Council Housing Performance Group, Stapleford Town Team, Stapleford Traffic & Transport Committee, New Stapleford Community Centre, Stapleford & Trowell Rural Action Group and Stapleford Combined Services Association.  He has also been elected as an Independent Councillor to Broxtowe Borough Council.

Previously employed as a doorman, Richard is now retired due to ill health.
His hobbies include music, gliding, photography and computers as well as researching the history of Stapleford.

Cllr Mrs Jan GooldCllr Jan Goold

Jan is married and has lived in the Stapleford area for over 40 years.  Her four sons all attended local schools and went on to study at different universities.

Now retired Jan is newly elected to the Town Council and represents the Stapleford North Ward.  Jan was also elected at the 2015 local elections to Broxtowe Borough Council to serve the Bramcote Ward. Jan is a member of the Conservative Party.

Keen to be involved in the local community Jan is a pro-active member of the local Patient Participation Group and she is fully committed to running Healthy Lifestyle events for the benefit of all.

Cllr John Longdon John Longdon

Married to Margaret, John has served, twice, as Town Mayor during previous Administrations and also as Mayor of the Borough of Broxtowe.   In January 2014 he was elected at a by- election and re-elected at the local election in 2015, serving as a Conservative Party Member for Stapleford North Ward.  He was also elected to Broxtowe Borough Council at the 2015 Local Elections.

John is a member of the Committees of both the Stapleford Community Group and Stapleford Combined Services Organisation.

A retired engineer, John’s hobbies reflect this background with interests in classic motor cycles of which he has a small collection.  John also enjoys restoring and exhibiting these machines at steam fairs, carnivals etc.

When he has time walking, reading and gardening are well enjoyed pastimes.

Cllr Mrs Sharon Ensor Cllr Sharon Ensor

Sharon is married to Paul, also a newly elected Town Councillor and has two children.

Newly elected to the Town Council in May 2015 Paul is a member of Stapleford Alliance and represents Stapleford North Ward. Sharon will represent the Town Council on Broxtowe Women’s Project.

Employed by a charity as a volunteer co-ordinator in her free time Sharon is a member of Ilkeston Theatre Company and enjoys making jewellery.  An animal lover Sharon hopes to shortly rekindle her interest in horse riding.

Cllr Mrs Susan (Sue) Roome Sue Roome

Sue has lived in Stapleford all her life and has been married to Bob for forty six years.   A proud grandmother of four, Sue’s three sons were educated at local schools.

For many years Sue worked, supporting young people with Special Needs at the Arthur Mee Centre, now retired Sue volunteers at the Helpful Bureau, Stapleford.   Committed to Stapleford she has been newly elected to the Town Council representing Stapleford North and is a member of Stapleford Alliance.

When she has time Sue enjoys pursuing her hobbies: reading, puzzles, knitting and of course spending quality time with her grandchildren.  Sue admits to being a Derby County fan.

Elected to the post Deputy Town Mayor for the municipal year 2015/16 Sue is looking forward to representing the Town Council in this capacity.

Cllr Mrs Amanda HullCllr Amanda Hull

Amanda is married to Brian, (also a Town Councillor) and has three children two of whom attend local schools, while her eldest daughter is studying at the University of Northampton.

For the last 14 years Amanda has lived in Stapleford and works at a local garage.   She is well known for her involvement with fund raising activities and work with the local scout movement.

Community spirited, Amanda has been a driving force in establishing a new Carer’s Support Group for families with children who have special needs

Amanda was first elected to the Town Council in 2011 and was re-elected in 2015. Serving as Town Mayor during the previous administration Amanda has now taken on the role of Deputy Leader and is a Member of Stapleford Alliance and represents Stapleford North.  A keen supporter of Dig In Mandy also enjoys working on her allotment.

Stapleford South East Ward

Cllr Robert Browne Cllr Robert Browne

Robert,(Bob) arrived in Nottingham in 1984 to undertake a nursing course in Intensive Care; met his future wife in Queen’s Medical Centre and stayed.  25 years ago the family moved to Stapleford were his three adult children grew up attending local schools.

First elected to the Town Council at the local elections in 2015, for the Stapleford South East Ward, Bob is a member of Stapleford Alliance.  He hopes to become involved in issues relating to the environment, sustainable transport, health and regeneration of local businesses.  Bob would also like to see a wider representation within local politics and not just the three main parties represented.

Involved in a very intensive area of The Health Service at QMC, when Bob has any free time he enjoys   running, walking the dog and real ale.

Cllr Paul EnsorPaul Ensor

Paul is married to Sharon, also a newly elected Town Councillor.  A Nottinghamshire lad, Paul has lived in Stapleford for the last six years and has two children.

Newly elected to the Town Council in May 2015 Paul is a member of Stapleford Alliance and represents Stapleford South East  Ward.

Busily employed by a major food retailer when he has free time Paul enjoys painting and model making.  An active member of Ilkeston Theatre Company he has served as the treasurer of this organisation for the last four years.

Cllr David Grindell David Grindell

David was first elected to the Town Council in 2005, serving through two further administrations and was re-elected to the Town at the local election in May 2015.  He has twice served as Town Mayor and as Chair of the Finance and General Purposes Committee.

David was born in Gosport, Hampshire but has lived in Stapleford for a number of years. Well known throughout the local community, David represents Stapleford South East Ward and is a member of the Liberal Democrats Party.

His involvement with a number of organisations in and around the Town is well known and includes: 1st Stapleford Scouts Group, Hemlock Happening, Hemlockstone Lions, Walter Parker VC (RMLI) and St Helen’s Parish Church.

Brian is married to Amanda, (also a Town Councillor) and has three children two of whom attend local schools, while his eldest daughter is studying at the University of Northampton.

A local lad, Brian has lived in Stapleford all of his life and works in Long Eaton.

Newly elected to the Town Council in 2015, for the South East Ward Brain will represent the Town Council at the Dig In Project.

Cllr David (Dave) Pearson Cllr David Pearson

Dave was born in Stapleford in 1949 and knows the local are well. He attended Wm Lilley, Fairfield and Bramcote Hills Grammar School.  This was followed by a period at Leeds University, where he gained a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Following University, Dave worked locally for Rediffusion for some 15 years as an engineering trouble shooter. He then retrained as a Physics and Maths teacher and worked at several secondary schools in London before returning to Stapleford a number of years ago.

Originally co-opted onto the Council in 2006 before being elected to represent the South East Ward in 2007, 2011 and 2015, Dave is a Member of Stapleford Alliance and is the Leader of the Town Council.

Chris is married to Cath, and has two children who attend local schools.

A founder Member of Stapleford Town Council in 1986, Chris has served on a number of administrations over the ensuing twenty nine years and has been elected to serve on the Town Council at the recent Local elections in May 2015. Chris was also elected to serve on Broxtowe Borough Council for the first time at theses Elections.

Chris is a member of the Conservative Party and represents the Stapleford South East Ward.

Chris has lived in Stapleford all his life and works at QMC.

Cllr Andrew Britton Cllr Andrew Britton

Andrew is newly married to Rachel and has three children from a previous marriage.  He has lived in Bramcote for 27 years and previously worked for a local pharmaceutical chain.

Now self employed, Andrew holds a MSc Engineering, MBA in Finance from Nottingham University and is a Chartered Accountant.

A former member of Beeston Roundtable he is now enjoying being involved with Beeston 41 Club. Andrew is also a keen supported of a number of local and international charities.

Newly elected to the Town Council in May 2015, Andrew served on both a Borough and County Council prior to moving to Bramcote and is a member of the Conservative Party.  Andrew represents the Stapleford South West Ward.

In his spare time he enjoys walking and trekking.

Cllr Ray Darby Ray Darby

Ray was first elected to the Town Council 20 years ago and has served on every administration since.

A very successful Town Mayor in 2011/12, Ray repeats this role in 2015/16 and is looking forward to attending many Town events.

Stapleford has been home to Ray and his wife, Maureen for the last 40 years. Both of his children attended Fairfield and George Spencer Schools. Ray has a long association with Fairfield School where he has been a school governor for over 16 years.

Now retired from his career in the building industry Ray keeps busy coaching badminton, working his allotment and is involved in a number of clubs and societies both in Stapleford and further afield.

Representing Stapleford South West Ward Ray is currently the leader of the Labour Group on the Town Council. Ray also represents Stapleford Southwest at Broxtowe Borough Council.

Ian is newly elected to the Town Council and represents the South West Ward and is a member of the Labour Party and the Unite Trade Union.

Cllr John McGrath John McGrath

A Stapleford lad, his family has been resident in Stapleford for many years. John is married and both his daughters attended George Spencer Academy.    Well known for his commitment to local youth football and other community events.

For a number of years John was employed at Toton Sidings but now splits his time between working as a Postman and as a Publican.

John was first elected to both the Town Council and Broxtowe Borough Council in 2007 and has served on both continuously, being re-elected in 2015.   He represents the South West Ward.
