Toton Development Reaction
Antony Calvert writes on behalf of Peveril Homes and UKPP, Joint development partners for Toton Lane, Stapleford: With the news that Rushcliffe Borough Council has been found, amongst other shortcomings, considerably short of its housing target by a Government-appointed Inspector, Peveril Homes and UKPP (Toton) Ltd have issued the following joint statement in regards to the need for a realistic housing target in Broxtowe.
‘We have always contended that the Broxtowe Core Strategy requires a sensible release of green belt to meet its housing need. The Inspector’s note for Rushcliffe brings into sharp focus the need to prepare realistic plans which pass independent scrutiny. The Toton Lane, Stapleford development has been judged to be the most sustainable green belt release in the Borough by Broxtowe Borough Council and we hope that elected members agree with us that with our support for the George Spencer Academy, extensive transport development nearby and the employment provision built in this application represents an excellent opportunity to move forward together.’
