Freedom Parade, but not for all.

23rd April 2013 Upcoming Events Tags: , 0 Comments

It says on the Broxtowe Borough Council web site that the upcoming Freedom Parade on Saturday 4th May starts at 1030am from Halls Road, Stapleford.

Businesses and residents between Bessell Lane and Halls Road are very unhappy about not being included.

Also notices have appeared on lampposts in Stapleford saying that from 6pm Friday 3rd until 11am Saturday 4th that from Halls Road up through Stapleford there is to be no parking on Derby Road, a lot of businesses rely on passing trade and are very unhappy.

Its also been asked will Halls Road car park be closed to the public or will it remain open.

Out in Stapleford this morning and many businesses said they knew nothing about the Freedom Parade and are very unhappy that not much notice is being given as they haven’t had anything official from anyone.

Then later today its been mentioned that someone from the council was in Stapleford late this afternoon and they didn’t have any posters for shops to display to inform customers of the upcoming Freedom Parade.
There should by now be posters in every shop that’s willing to display them to let people know. Last week it was printed on a local school news letter that went to all parents, but it shouldn’t be down to a few local people to be doing this.

These men and women who could end up giving their lives or suffer horrific injuries deserve a lot better then this. The whole of Stapleford should be involved well if they knew about it, posters should of been out weeks ago in shop windows and even residents home windows in and around Stapleford a lot of people are going to miss out
