Local people can nominate local individuals and community groups in Broxtowe for a Broxtowe Borough Partnership Award to say thank you for their contribution to the local community.

The awards will honour inspirational individuals and community groups who have volunteered their time to help improve the borough, making it a better, safer and more pleasant place to live.

There seven award categories are:

• The safe borough – for those who work to reduce crime and make our borough a safer place to live.

• A growing borough – for those who have helped businesses improve.

• A healthy borough – for those who have helped put better health services or facilities into their community or help people lead a healthier lifestyle.

• A clean and green borough – for those who have worked to make the borough cleaner or greener or helped people to become more environmentally friendly.

• Children and young people – for those who have worked to give children and young people a voice or helped them to show what they can do.

• A happy borough – for those who have helped to make their community a better place to live and help everyone get on and work together.

• A good neighbour – For an individual who has helped people in their community to live more comfortable or safely in their homes.

Anyone can nominate either an individual or a group who they think deserves recognition for helping to make their community a better place to live by completing a nomination form.

Deadline for submission is Monday 30 September.

Last year’s winner included Street Angels, a team of volunteers who patrol Beeston town centre in the evening to keep people safe who are vulnerable or under the influence of alcohol.

Breastfeeding Peer Support Volunteers, local mothers who support new breastfeeding mums just home from hospital and Canaan Trust, who provide support and accommodation to many of the borough’s most vulnerable people.
