Situated on Halls Road, Stapleford, William Lilley Infant & Nursery school was inspected by Ofsted recently and were delighted with the positive, complimentary Report – Good overall with some outstanding features.
http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/inspection  Behaviour & Safety was judged outstanding and has always been a strength of the school.

Mrs Mercer, Nursery Teacher and Lead Behaviour Teacher, lays the foundations and expectations of the school’s Behaviour Policy which is much appreciated by parents.

The strong home:school partnership ensures parents support the school ensuring children are taught in a calm, caring and respectful environment.

The schools Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural work was also recognised as a strong feature.

The inclusive way William Lilley works embracing all sectors of its Community was praised.

The SLES Award (Stephen Lawrence Education Standard) recently acquired and supported by committed members of the Town Council, parents and governors contributed to the Ofsted judgement.

Team work of all the dedicated staff came shining through led by the indefatigable Head teacher, Jeanne Wilson who is in her 18th year at William Lilley.

All staff worked tirelessly to ensure the Ofsted Team recognised the schools many strengths.

All Teaching observed was at least Good and some lessons Outstanding.  The provision for Early Years (Nursery and Reception) being judged Outstanding in all areas.

The Governing Body, ably led by Kevin Snow, Chair of Governors, were considered to be Outstanding.

Their collective knowledge, skills, expertise and experience was impressive in helping Mrs Wilson and her Senior Team lead the school forward.

The stars of the Inspection were of course the wonderful children who attend this popular school.

They showed the Inspectors how happy and engaged they are with their learning confidently telling the Team how they enjoy coming to school.

In the Inspection Report it was noted ‘pupils thoroughly enjoy school and feel very safe, valued and well looked after.

Behaviour is consistently outstanding and the school is a safe and harmonious Community.

Children care for each other following the example set by teachers and well qualified and experienced Teaching Assistants.

Stapleford Town Council has always shown a great deal of interest in William Lilley, many members having connections with the school over its long history. William Lilley, an ex-Councillor, would have been proud of his namesake! The school wishes to thank the Council for contributing to its on-going success.
