BIKE thieves have been on the prowl in Stapleford, prompting police to ask people to better secure sheds and garages.

Six outbuildings were broken in to in the area in August, with police saying the thieves appear to be targeting expensive bikes.

There have been incidents in Braddon Avenue, Kennedy Drive and Northwood Street in Stapleford and in Ilkeston Road, Trowell Grove and at the Festival Pub in Trowell.

Broxtowe South neighbourhood PCSO Andy Freeman warned:

“A number of high value pedal cycles have been stolen.

Please can you be aware that high value equipment needs to be locked away in a good secure area.

“You can use various security markings such as Smartwater and Data tagging to help protect your equipment.”

Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to contact Notts Police on 101.
