Stapledford councillor Russell Whiting – standing as an MP in Suffolk – has no intention of standing down

A TOWN councillor who is bidding to become an MP in Suffolk says he can still fulfil his duty in Notts.

As reported in yesterday’s Post, Russell Whiting represents Stapleford North but lives in London and is now on the campaign trail to become the MP for the Suffolk Coastal region.

Since the start of the municipal year, on May 11, he has attended only one Stapleford Town Council meeting and he does not sit on any committees.

Speaking yesterday evening Councillor Whiting said:

“I have no intention of standing down as being a Stapleford town councillor.

“People combine these roles all the time and I will still be able to fulfil my duties as a councillor in the same way as I have been since being elected in 2011.”

When asked why he had not told the town council about standing in Suffolk, he said that he had informed the Labour Party, who were supportive of his campaign.

“People combine these roles all the time and I will still be able to fulfil my duties as a councillor in the same way as I have been since being elected in 2011.”

Which basically means continue to do absolutely nothing what so ever for the people of Stapleford North.

This Councillor makes a mockery of the whole system and makes Stapleford Town Council look a complete joke.
