Town roads close for remembrance
Road will be closed temporarily Sunday, November 10, for the Stapleford Remembrance Day parade and service to take place .
Roads affected will be:
the B5010 Derby Road,
the B6003 Toton Lane,
Eatons Road and Victoria Street.
The restrictions will last between 10.45am and midday.
There is also a possibility that the B5010 Derby Road may close again on Monday, November 11, between 10.55am and 11.05am, for a second remembrance service.
This is great news for the people of Stapleford and has been organised by Stapleford Community Group Chairman Richard MacRae & Stapleford Councillor John McGrath after recieving many requests from residents of Stapleford.
As an honorary member of the Stapleford Combined Services Richard MacRae has listened to the concerns and requests of many people including ex forces resident Jack Leek, Jack asked if traffic could be stopped so people could enjoy the service and pay there respects in silence and not have to listen to passing traffic.
A request to Nottingham County Council was submitted and with the hard work and continued support of Councillor John McGrath the County Council have agreed to close the road.
Stapleford Community Group would personally like to thank both Nottingham County Council & Councillor McGrath for there continued support in the requests to make this happen.
