Junior Orienteering on Bramcote Park

19th March 2014 Broxtowe Borough Council, Stapleford Community Group, Upcoming Events Tags: , , 0 Comments

After the huge success of the Fit4fun and Cook4Life courses next on the agenda is Junior Orienteering.

Starting in June and there is a possibility of 12 weekly sessions being organised.

Stapleford Community Group enjoy working with Broxtowe Sport to bring various healthy sessions for local residents.  This is a continuation of this.
More details will be released once. everything is finalised.

But in the mean time we just wanted to keep people informed on what we are working to bring to you.

Orienteering is a challenging outdoor adventure sport that exercises both the mind and the body. The aim is to navigate in sequence between control points marked on a unique orienteering map and decide the best route to complete the course in the quickest time. It does not matter how young, old or fit you are, as you can run, walk or jog the course and progress at your own pace.

Orienteering can take place anywhere from remote forest and countryside to urban parks and school playgrounds.  It’s a great sport for runners, joggers and walkers who want to improve their navigation skills or for anyone who loves the outdoors. Orienteering – The adventure sport for all

  1. Hi Richard,

Hope your OK-just to make you aware, unfortunately we will not be going ahead with the Orienteering project this summer.

British Orienteering are not prepared to fund the event and with a few vacant posts at Broxtowe Sport at the moment we would be struggling to deliver the 12 sessions over the summer.

Maybe this is something we can revisit with a full team next year.

    Will keep you posted.
