Video Journalist

Division: Notts TV

Department: News

Salary: £17k – £28k

Contract Type: Flexible

Closing Date: 18 Aug 2014

2014 is proving to be a momentous year for the people of Notts. For the first time, they can tune into their own local TV channel on Freeview and Virgin Media. Notts TV, run by a consortium made up of the Confetti Media Group, Local Digital News, the Nottingham Post Group and Nottingham Trent University, broadcasts a range of high quality programs with a local focus. We are looking to add to the team responsible for the channel’s news output and there are a number of video journalist positions available.

You’ll research and gather material, then write, film and deliver live and pre-recorded content, including news bulletins to deadlines. This will involve acting as a reporter, presenter and interviewer in studios and on location, originating and developing news related program ideas and helping to plan future programs. You’ll also direct camera crews on live coverage, operate gallery equipment and supervise junior reporters, trainees and apprentices. Much of your success will depend on you developing and maintaining a wide range of local contacts, and supporting our efforts to establish a high quality reputation for Notts TV locally and nationally.

A skilled journalist with a good knowledge of multi-media production techniques, you know how to capture amazing video and use editing software to enhance it. As a brilliant writer, you’re also adept at producing sharp, accurate text, and – on top of this – can deliver it in an engaging way. Your ability to develop original ideas and use creative treatments is balanced by sound editorial judgment, as well as your knowledge and appreciation of all relevant legal considerations. In short, you are professional, innovative and prodigiously capable.
