Carnival has been taking place for past few years
The exciting line-up for Stapleford Carnival has been announced.
The carnival takes place on Saturday September 6 at Ilkeston Road recreation ground from 11.30am with the Official opening ceremony at 12.30pm, conducted by the Mayor of Stapleford, Councillor Kevin Thomas.
The days activities will begin with the Long Eaton Militaires playing on the Walter Parker Square in the centre of the town from around 11am.
Organiser Katharine Stewart said: “From around 11.30am we hope to have a selection of vehicles depart from Bessell Lane on a vehicle parade to join the normal traffic through Stapleford up to the carnival site on Ilkeston Road where there will be lots going on.
“There will be charity and commercial stalls, a fun fair, food outlets and classic vehicles. There is a also a competition conducted independently by Stapleford Town Council for the best turned out charity stall and commercial stall.
“Our entertainers this year are the Long Eaton Militaires displaying their skills after playing on the Walter Parker Square, and Kris Katchit and Dangerous Derek performing Circus Skills.”
Also at the event will be the Maypole Good Time Band, local falconer Chris Miller will have a static show under near to the Washington Drive entrance and will also fly his birds in the Arena, and Stapleford’s own Boys and Girls Brigade will be playing in the arena.
This Saturday a promotion day will be held on Walter Parker Square where any updates concerning the carnival will be given. It will take place from 10am until 1.30pm.
