A 21-year-old Kirk Hallam woman was taken to hospital with a suspected broken leg after being hit by a car in Ilkeston which then drove off.

The incident happened at around 1.35am on Friday (August 22) on Little Hallam Lane.

A car, thought to be a dark coloured Ford Mondeo, struck the woman pedestrian and failed to stop before driving away towards Little Hallam Hill, said police.

The woman was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre, in Nottingham, where she remained overnight.

On Friday on Facebook the victim, Rianne O’Neill, spoke out, writing that she had a shattered knee cap and was still in hospital.

She added that she believed the car was a black Mondeo.

On Tuesday police said that they had not received any more information in relation to the driver of the car.

A spokesman said: “The woman does have a broken leg and required surgery to an open tear.

“As yet nobody has come forward with any information about the incident.”

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have information about the incident. Witnesses should contact police constable 1903 Lee Simpson from the Central Roads Policing Unit on 101.

In June another woman was left injured when she was in collison with a car while walking along Nottingham Road at the junction with Little Hallam Lane.
