Theft from Motor Vehicles

25th September 2014 Help & Advice, Police Alerts, Update & Messages. Tags: 0 Comments

Over night between 2300 hours on 21/09/2014 and between 0700 hours on 22/09/2014 there have been two Theft from Motor Vehicles on Manor Avenue Stapleford.

There also was a incident on 22/09/2014 at 0200 hours on Perth Drive  two males seen in the area trying car doors. Nothing taken.

Most of the incidents have taken place over night but owners should always be vigilant as they have included cars parked in driveways, car parks and on streets. Satellite navigation systems are most commonly stolen but sunglasses, a wallet and a laptop have also been stolen after being left on display or hidden in the vehicle which on some occasions has also been left unlocked.

Follow these tips to reduce your chance of falling victim to a thief:

Always ensure your car is locked and the windows are closed when unattended.

Do not leave valuable items, including power leads, in the vehicle and, where possible, leave the glove box open and the boot parcel shelf off to show there is nothing of worth inside.

Keep your vehicle in a locked garage, otherwise park it in a busy, well-lit area.

Never leave expensive electrical items like sat navs and removable stereos in your vehicle. You can also mark them with a forensic etching system or liquid, such as SmartWater, and record them on a property register, such as at www.immobilise.com

To report suspicious activity or if you have any information about the incidents above contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
