At the meeting they spoke about the previous development plans to build on Hickings Lane Park. They also spoke about the new plans to build on the land at the bottom of Hickings Lane and the junction of Church Street.

As well as the petition and the hard work of Stapleford Community Group( who campaigned against the plans to build on Hickings Lane Park), Stapleford Councillors John McGrath and Richard MacRae both visited the leader of Broxtowe Borough Council Milan Radulovic MBE, the two Stapleford Councillors spoke about it being a bad idea to allow any development on the actual park and how local residents and park users alike didn’t want this to happen.

The plans were withdrawn.

We find it very strange that yesterday afternoon Councillor David Watts posted the following on twitter.

It had absolutely nothing to do with Councillor David Watts or Jacky Williams and the Lib Dems, in fact two of the Stapleford Lib Dems has said they thought it was “A GOOD IDEA” to build on Hickings Lane Park.

This isn’t the first time this political party have given themselves credit for work Stapleford Community Group have done. You only have to take a look at the latest Focus leaflet delivered around the Stapleford South East ward.  They may as well have called it a Stapleford Community Group newsletter as it is full of stuff we have either done or inisiated, yet they forget to mention this.
