Retain the grade 2 listed status of Stapleford Chapel
Adam Stockwell writes: Stapleford Chapel is one of 15 listed buildings in Stapleford and Broxtowe Borough Council have applied to have it unlisted
They want to change its status to enable the ‘Men in Sheds’ project to move from its current location at The Maycliffe Hall and into either the former Chapel or the Mortuary.
Whilst I agree that ‘Men in Sheds’ is a great project and I agree there is a need for this project to expand what I don’t agree with is the Councils plans to move it to the Chapel. Maybe Broxtowe Borough Council could move the project into the former Stapleford Police Station which would be much more suitable.
People visit Stapleford Cemetery to pay respects to loved ones who have passed away, they don’t visit the Cemetery to listen to people knocking and banging away, the extra traffic on an already congested street would also be a major issue for both local residents on Cemetery Road and people visiting the Stapleford Cemetery who already have limited parking.

The above page is taken from the latest Broxtowe Magazine that is delivered to all Council Tenants in Broxtowe. Where it clearly states ‘It is a listed building at present and an application has been made to change its status’
We have also received a call from an Officer at Broxtowe Borough Council saying the Council has no plans to remove the listed status of the building, of course we will be keeping an eye on this whatever is going on.
