Reduction In Local Police Force

24th April 2015 Help & Advice, Stapleford Community Group Tags: , , 0 Comments

We were sadly informed yesterday that Police Commissioner for Nottinghamshire, Mr Paddy Tipping, is soon to announce that 72 PCSOs in Nottinghamshire are to be made redundant.

This possibly means Stapleford will be poorer served by PCSOs who do a great job in keeping our community safe.

Stapleford North Ward has seen a drop in crime and anti social behaviour over recent years. It’s down to the hard work of our Stapleford Police Team with PCSOs like Andy Freeman who is the ward PCSO.

The monthly Stapleford Community Advice Surgery which takes place at the Washington Drive Community Centre sees the local PCSOs along with Councillor Richard MacRae meet with local residents where they all discuss the latest crime figures as well as offer help and advice to the residents who attend.

Stapleford Community Group are forever grateful to all of the Stapleford PCSOs, in fact we recently nominated PCSO Andy Freeman for PCSO of the year in the Police Awards.

We will be writing personally to Crime Commissioner Paddy Tipping to tell him the importance of keeping our PCSOs here in Stapleford.  We will also be contacting Labours Nick Palmer about this too.

The PCSOs are a vital part of the Stapleford Community and without them we fear crime in certain areas could see a sharp rise.

We need more PCSOs on the streets, people like to see the local Beat Bobby, the experience they have which takes years to build up can’t be replaced, the respect they gain from the local residents can’t be replaced.

We urge all of you to get behind Stapleford Community Group and contact Crime Commissioner Paddy Tipping and Labours Nick Palmer via any of the following contact details.
