BURGLARIES IN CHILWELL/STAPLEFORD
Nine properties have been burgled in five days – eight because doors and windows were left unlocked.
The break-ins have all happened in Beeston, Chilwell and Stapleford, with five of them carried out in one day.
Offenders have stolen a variety of items including car keys, and subsequently two cars, electrical items and bank cards.
The majority of burglaries have happened overnight between midnight and 6am and affected properties in Hobart Drive, Stapleford; Inham Road, Chilwell; Clumber Avenue, Chilwell,; Grove Avenue, Chilwell; Harrison Road, Stapleford; High Road, Chilwell; Woodland Grove, Chilwell and Holmfield Road, Chilwell.
Enquiries are being conducted to establish if the offences are linked.
T/DI Rich Monk from Carlton CID said: “With the warmer weather burglars are banking on the fact that you will leave your doors and windows unlocked, making it easy for them to help themselves.”
“When you go to bed at night, make sure someone is making those last checks to ensure that there are no insecurities at your property. It’s worth it for the sake of a few minutes.”
“Also, set your house alarm before you go to bed.”
Police are increasing patrols in the area.
