Apprentice Business Support Assistant Heritage/Conservation

Futures Apprenticeships is recruiting for an Apprentice Business Support Assistant (Heritage & Conservation) on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council (52 week fixed term training programme).

As a Futures Apprentice, you will be employed by Futures Apprenticeships but be based at The County Hall, West Bridgford, Nottingham for 3 days a week, with the Heritage & Conservation Team. For the other 2 days the apprentice will be based at the Mansfield Woodhouse Heritage Link, in the Mansfield Woodhouse Library, so it is important to be able to travel between these 2 sites.

The Heritage & Conservation Team work closely with local community groups and societies. They have been supporting the Mansfield Woodhouse Society for several years. The group were recently awarded Heritage Lottery Funding to lease a part of Mansfield Woodhouse Library and turn it into a Heritage Link i.e. a repository and access point for their community archive and an outlet for their groups activities.

While working in the County Hall, duties will include:
Helping with the surveying of historical buildings,
Recording archaeological finds,
Working with the Database of the Historic Environment Record,
Develop heritage tourism opportunities.

While working at the Heritage Link, duties will include:
Working to develop and maintain the Heritage Link and to engage local communities,
Archive work,
Putting on exhibitions, running events and fund raising,
Marketing activities,
Working with volunteers.

You will ideally have or expect to gain GCSE passes at a minimum of D+ in English and Maths (or equivalent) and can show the ability to complete the Apprenticeship. 
You should have the ability to manage your own time and workload, 
Have good Administration and IT skills, 
Possess effective communication skills and organisational skills. 
The role requires someone creative who has good ideas that they can see through to fruition, as well as having a keen interest in Heritage & Conservation in the local communities.

The ability to drive and access to a vehicle is desirable as there is considerable travel in Nottinghamshire in this apprenticeship.
