The Stapleford Tram Terminus Opens Tomorrow
No great surprise though as Councillor Richard MacRae announced it last week as you may have read on this website.
**Nottingham’s two new tram lines will finally begin running on Tuesday, it has been announced.
NET and Nottingham City Council confirmed the extended lines from Nottingham train station to Clifton South and Stapleford (correct location added by site admin) would be open to the public from just after 6am tomorrow.
It marks the end of a three-year construction project costing £570 million that affected businesses and residents along the route, while the announcement comes eight months later than planned.
Anticipation mounted while the final stages of timetable trials took place over the past few weeks and a VIP preview tram ride was held on both lines earlier this month.
Line 3 will include a stop at the Queen’s Medical Centre, making Nottingham the first city to have a tram to serve a major hospital.
Passengers can also board a tram in Beeston, Stapleford and The Meadows, while it passes through major employers at the NG2 Business Park and University of Nottingham.
The new network will connect with the existing lines from Hucknall and Phoenix Park to the train station.
