Burglary
We have seen no difference in the number of calls regarding burglary. We would advise residents to think about home security at all times. If you require a visit by a member of the beat team to discuss further home security please contact 101 extensions 800 5761.

Here are a few tips:

*Lock your doors and windows every time you leave the house, even when your just out in the garden, remembering to double lock UPVC doors (lift handle and turn key)

*Hide all keys, including car keys out of sight and away from the letter box

*Install a visual burglar alarm

*Install good outside lighting

*Leave radios or lights in your house on a timer to make the property appear occupied

*Make sure the fences around your property are in good condition

*Secure bikes at home by locking them to an immoveable object inside a locked shed or garage

*Mark your property with postcode and house number and register your property for free with Immobilise.

Auto crime
In comparison to the previous month the number of theft from motor vehicles have increased. Theft from motor vehicle is very easy and cheap to prevent by simply removing items from your vehicle when you leave it unoccupied. It only takes a minute!

If you require further information to any of the above please contact Stapleford beat team on 101 extensions 800 5761.

Criminal damage
In comparison to the previous month we have seen a decrease in the number of criminal damage report in your area. Criminal damage is the intentional and malicious damage to the home, other property or vehicles.

There are some things you can do to help prevent further criminal damage:

If your property has been damaged, it’s a good idea to repair it as quickly as possible. Vandalised property can attract people who might cause more damage.
If you witness persons committing acts of damage to property or street furniture, contact the police and report it providing descriptions, clothing etc
