A large fire in Stapleford is being treated as suspected arson.

Firefighters from Stapleford, Highfields and Long Eaton were called to the blaze at a derelict building in Toton Lane at around 5.30am on Sunday.

Nobody was hurt in the incident. The fire was extinguished at around 10am.

Ray Burton, watch manager at Stapleford Fire Station, said: “We responded to a fire at a derelict building – which is now more damaged than it already was.

“It is likely to be arson because there are no power supplies in the building.”
