Fast-food shop could be coming to Stapleford

22nd October 2015 Broxtowe Borough Council, Local Businesses, Nottingham Evening Post Tags: , , , , 1 Comment

The owner of a white-goods shop in Stapleford is applying for permission to turn part of his store into a takeaway.

Babinda Sandhu, who owns Stapleford Telecentre at 204-206 Derby Road, wants to open a restaurant at the premises.

If Mr Sandhu gained approval from the council, the venture would create four new jobs in the area.

Mr Sandhu is hoping to use Unit 206 of his shop as a fast-food eatery.

In documents submitted to Broxtowe Borough Council, Mr Sandhu’s agent – Paul Gaughan Solicitors – says business at the shop has slowed down and that downsizing is necessary due in part to online competition.

It reads: “The fortunes of the business over the past years have declined as local superstores have begun selling more and more electrical goods.

“The sales of white goods via the internet has also hit the business. As such, the requirement for a large internal sales floor has declined.”

The council has not yet set a date by which it will make a decision.
