Fire On Queen Elizabeth Park, Stapleford
Two of the towns younger residents quick thinking saves the day.
A big Thank You to little Jay and Rhys who tonight on Queen Elizabeth Park spotted a range of trees on fire. While a number of “grown ups” filmed the fire and took photos on their phones, Reece and Jay took it upon themselves to call 999 and ask for the Fire Service.
Our Firefighters in the Control Room are specially trained and use a state of the art system to ensure that we get the right address and quickly. None of that was needed tonight as the boys gave such a good location, including what colour tops they were wearing to enable us to find them.
When we arrived at Brookhill Street as directed by the boys, we discovered a range of trees on fire and rapidly spreading. Kevin Tedds the incident commander said that “the boys quick thinking and actions took us straight to the fire.
The crew acted swiftly getting an extended hose reel to work, limiting the fire spread and damage.”
Nottinghamshire Police are aware of the incident and attended.
We apologise for closing Brookhill Street and the disruption this caused, it was however necessary and done as briefly as possible.
