Beeston Development Takes Another Step Forward
THE REDEVELOPMENT of Beeston Town Centre took a significant step forward last night, as Broxtowe Borough
Council’s Policy and Performance Committee agreed to progress the scheme by preparing more detailed plans for the site.
The Council will now move ahead with preparatory works for the development which will include a cinema,
cafes and bars and around 100 new homes.
Works will include preparing a planning application to be submitted in the spring, finding a suitable developer
for the residential part of the site and continuing negotiations with a cinema operator.
“This is real step in the right direction for Phase 2 of Beeston Square and will help revitalise the town
and develop a thriving and sustainable evening economy, as well as providing more homes for local people. We’re still in the early stages with lots of work still to do but this is a very promising start,” said Councillor Richard Jackson, Leader of Broxtowe
If planning permission is granted, work is expected to start in 2019 and be completed in 2020.
