This was previously funded by the CCG who continue to support the project in-kind by providing a free interview room.

However the CCG ceased to provide any direct financial support during 2016/17 and the service has been financed by using some of the Charity’s unrestricted reserves.

Without additional resources Citizens Advice will have to close the face to face advice available in Stapleford from April 2018.

The service has been running for 13 years, it is a well-attended and supported by the local community.

The project is run by a Caseworker who is employed on a part-time basis.

We estimate that the service costs £7,000 per year and we are trying to raise 6 months running costs whilst we seek a long term funding stream.

Outputs/Outcomes

The service benefits the people of Stapleford directly. Many of our clients have long term health problems, are on low income or simply confused about their rights and responsibilities.

We have carried out surveys and our clients tell us that their general wellbeing is much improved as a result of the help we provide.

During the last 12 months the outputs have been significant given the relatively small investment. Vulnerable Stapleford clients received £395,000 in additional income during 388 appointments.
