Nottingham College Estates Update

11th May 2018 Help & Advice Tags: 0 Comments

As you are aware, NCN and Central College merged last year to form Nottingham College.

The College’s ambition is for all of our students to study in the best facilities possible. That is why we announced plans in 2017 to build a new £58 million City Centre campus. By 2020 we will have a modern fit for purpose estate including two purpose-built flagship campuses one in the City and one in the North (Basford). This will realise our vision of a hub and spoke model, giving the best experience and outcomes for all the City’s learners.

Today we are telling our staff that we are moving some of our courses to new sites from September. This will give our students access to the best facilities and resources we currently have and allow them to be part of a wider and more vibrant student community. It will also allow us to begin the process of disposing of our out dated sites.

We will continue to enhance our diverse and dynamic curriculum for all of our students. Their qualifications will not be affected.

The planned moves are:
1. All curriculum provision at Beeston will move to other centres in time for September 2018

. Construction Apprentices will move from Beeston to Basford
. The majority of SLDD (Students with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities) will move from Beeston to Basford with one new programme starting at Arthur Mee (Stapleford)
. Science to move from Beeston to Maid Marian Way
. Hair and Beauty to move from Beeston to Clarendon
2. All Sport and Public Services provision at Clifton will move to Basford in time for September 2018
Our professional services and business support staff will remain in Beeston leaving in a phased way before 2020.
Staff, students and their parents and carers are being informed and students will be fully supported throughout this transition. We are confident that the changes will bring about real improvements to their learning experience and outcomes.
As always, if you would like any additional information about this development or about the College’s plans going forward I’d be delighted to share these with you. Please do get in touch with Irene Beard in my team or call 0115 884 2316 and we can take it from there.
Thank you for your continued commitment and support to Nottingham College.
