We have now passed the 20,000 mark for the amount of meals we have handed out from collecting surplus food donations.
That is over 20,000 meals worth of food which would have gone in the bin. It has instead been given out to those in need.
So where do we get the good from.
We collect from Lidl in Sandiacre on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
We collect from The Coop in Sandiacre on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
We collect from Aldi in Strelley on Wednesday and Thursday.
We collect from Tesco in Toton on Tuesday and Tesco in Beeston on Friday.
So what do we do with the surplus food.
We take the surplus food donations to The Helpful Bureau, Early Years Playgroup, Sparkle Daycare Nursery, Stapleford Youth Club, Broxtowe Youth Homelessness, Church@MontroseCourt, The Haven Centre, the local Independent Living Schemes as well as the local food banks in both Stapleford and Bilborough.
We have also made donations to the various street kitchens in both Nottingham and Derby City Centres. We have even taken donations to a street kitchen in Birmingham.
We have also delivered food to those who are unable to collect from the various drop off points.
Stapleford Community Group is all about Bringing Unity To The Community. What better way to do this than helping people with food.
20,000 you must agree is a lot of food and we would like to thank the businesses who make the kind donations and the volunteers who help with the project we have called the #StaplefordFoodProject
