Bin Day on Brookhill Street
Its Bin Day on Brookhill Street, Thursday it must be.
Its Bin Day on Brookhill Street, Car manoeuvres? Let’s see.
Bins like soldiers line the paves
Folk leave for work, the daily ‘slaves’
Down the hill the lorry weaves
Small debris in its path it leaves
Frustrated driver sounds the horn
Collections to be done, but torn?
To empty bins without delay
But not to cause drivers dismay
Quickly down the hill the lorry weaves
Hi-viz workers, the bins they heave
Empty bins returned to land
Like Daleks on the kerb returned they stand
The lorry now turns off the hill
Another street, grist to the mill
Off to empty bins a new
Grateful folk, there’ll be a few
Its Bin Day on Brookhill Street, completed one more time.
Its Bin Day on Brookhill Street, the event that’s so sublime.
