St. Helens Church Gates, Stapleford

You may notice the Gates at St. Helens Church have been removed today.

The Gates have been removed and taken away to be fully restored.

They were dismantled this morning and loaded onto a lorry.

They have now been taken away where they will be fully restored and then they will be out back once the works have been completed.

History of the Gates.
Pair of gates. 1855. By John Shaw. Cast and wrought iron. Ashlar piers. Scroll top gates carried on latticed iron piers. flanked by scrolled railing with 2 square panelled piers. Beyond, to left, spearhead wicket gate. The gates were removed from Wellington College, Sandhurst, Berks., in 1922.
