As you know Stapleford Community Group look after the Planters in Stapleford outside Larrys, and have done for several years now.
Due to the restrictions planned weeding had to be cancelled and the two planters became overgrown.
We have been out and purchased new gardening tools and due to changes in the current restrictions we were all set to go along this coming Saturday and sort them out, this can now be done keeping the social distancing measures in place.
Unfortunately we received a call today that workers were removing all the plants and weeds, this is something we knew absolutely nothing about and having spoken to both Broxtowe Borough Council and Stapleford Town Council neither do they.
As you can see in the main picture most of the plants which do come back each year have now been removed.
The wildlife area which was growing nicely in the middle has also been completely removed too. It had been growing for several years now and was a great place for wildlife, this is no longer the case.
Luckily we arrived in time and spoke to the workers about the planters, they have swept up and left it alone now.
Our volunteers will as was already planned be on site on Saturday if the weather is suitable and be sorting the second planter.
We will now have to get some new plants to replace the ones which have been removed.
