Friday 16th October 2020, Wear Red Day to support the #StaplefordFoodProject.

We would like to thank the Wadsworth Fields Primary School who are the first School to confirm they will be taking part this year in the Wear Red Day, Children will be allowed to go to School wearing red and all donations will be kindly donated to us to help with the #StaplefordFoodProject.

With over 60,000 equivalent meals worth of surplus food now collected, saved from going to waste and given to others to use this is just one of the projects we have been involved with. You will recall back in March 2020 we put three planters around Stapleford which will be used to grown food, one at The Haven Church & Community Centre, one at the Stapleford Youth Club and one at Early Years Day Care and Nursery. Thanks to funding from Nottinghamshire County Council.

You can also find volunteers outside the Church at Montrose Court off Melbourne Road on Monday, Wednesday and Friday handing out surplus food donations which are gratefully received from various supermarkets.

More than food and more than just Stapleford we have the help and support of the community and the help and support of many volunteers, volunteering is a great way to make new friends, help locally and it can help with various mental health issues, the feedback from the volunteers regarding this has been fantastic. But without the volunteers none of this would be at all possible.

If your workplace or business would like to take part in the Wear Red Day to help support us then please do get in touch via staplefordcommunitygroup@gmail.com and please put Wear Red Day in the subject line.
