The Macmillan Coffee Morning In The Afternoon raised £75.90 earlier today.

Thank you to those who kindly donated cakes, sadly no one entered the Cake Competition.

We would like to thank the Mayor of Stapleford and the Mayor of Broxtowe for attending and spending time with residents off the estate and supporting the event.

Stapleford Town Council elected Councillor Bob Brown (pictured right) as the new Mayor of Stapleford at the Annual Town Council meeting held on Friday 18th May.

Councillor Chris Rice (left) ended his term as Mayor of Stapleford where he enjoyed the Civic Year meeting many people and attending many events throughout Stapleford.

Civic Duties

The Town Mayor and Deputy Town Mayor are elected by their fellow Councillors at the Annual Town Council Meeting, usually held during May each year at the beginning of the new municipal year.

During the Municipal year The Town Mayor and Deputy Town Mayor undertake many civic engagements. They represent the Town Council at events, within the Town, County and surrounding area.

Below is a list of the type of events attended by The Town Mayor:

  • Chairing the Town Council
  • Presenting flowers, from the Town Council, to residents who are celebrating a special birthday or anniversary*
  • Attending Civic Services
  • Switching on the Christmas Tree Lights
  • Attending Remembrance Services
  • Judging Competitions
  • Meeting Young People at various clubs youth events**
  • Meeting More Mature Members of the Community at various clubs and events**
  • Presenting cheques following charity fund raising events
  • Opening the Carnival, Hemlock Happening, Fetes, etc.
  • Visiting Schools
  • Attending Civic Balls, Concerts etc

* If you would like the Town Mayor to visit a friend/relation who has a special birthday/anniversary coming up please contact the Town Clerk.

The Town Council is delighted to mark the following:

Wedding Anniversaries – 50, 60, 70 and more years.

Birthdays – 90, 100 and more years.

The Mayor of Stapleford, Councillor Chris Rice would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas.

He would also like to pass on his thanks to all the local groups, organisations and individuals who have been doing so much to help others throughout the year. As well as thank everyone who has invited him to the many events throughout the year.

Mayors Open New Business In Stapleford

Yesterday the Mayor of Broxtowe, Councillor Graham Harvey and the Mayor of Stapleford, Councillor Susan Roome officially opened Kittys Handmade.


The Mayor Of Broxtowe, Councillor Graham Harvey gave a great speech and welcomed Emma to the line of Women who are running great Independent Businesses in Stapleford. 

The Two Mayors cut the Ribbon to declare the new addition to Derby Road open. 

Food and drink were inside and a great display of hand made items by a local business who had gone along to support the new venture. 

The Kittys Handmade Official Facebook Page is full of upcoming classes and various other sessions available that you book onto.
